Our story
About Safari Treasures
Handmade · Authentic · Timeless — a family store bringing African craft to Ohio.

Sandra Simi — Founder
From the weaver's hands to yours
Safari Treasures began with a suitcase of Bolga baskets and a simple belief: African craftsmanship deserves a fair price and a real audience. Today we travel to workshops across Ghana, Senegal, Rwanda and Kenya, buying directly from the women and men who make each piece.
Nothing in our shop is mass-produced. Grass is harvested, split, dyed and coiled by hand, so every basket carries small variations — the fingerprint of its maker.
You can shop the full collection online in US dollars, or visit us in the Royal Swiss Village Shopping Center at 5785 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio.
Fair prices, paid up front
Artisans quote their price and are paid before the goods ship. No haggling, no delayed payments.
Natural materials
Elephant grass, sweetgrass, sisal, hardwood and vegetable-tanned leather — nothing synthetic.
Truly one of a kind
Each item is photographed as it is. Colours and patterns vary a little, and that is the point.
